MIA

Sorry it has been a while, we have had kid of a rough go of it the last few months.

I broke my foot while on vacation in May. Just as I healed up from that and got my walking boot off for good poor Kent ended up in the hospital for three days. It was very stressful for everyone but he was in good hands and sent home as soon as he was healthy enough to be cared for by me. We pushed our California trip back a week so Kent could rest and then off we went to California.

Very shortly after we returned from our trip Kent had a very good lead on a job and a couple weeks later they offered it to him and he started right away. So we had some big adjustments for everyone as daddy has worked from home the boys whole lives. I got us on a good schedule and the boys and I keep busy during the day.

Now Ty is about to start back to preschool next week and I am getting us all ready for that. Since it is only me during the day now and Ethan naps right when Ty would need to be dropped of we decided that Ty will ride the big boy bus to school. Ty is very excited about this and mommy.....not so much. I know he will do just fine but it will be very hard for me to watch that bus drive away with my sweet boy on it. Deep breaths right?

I will get some new pictures of the boys up soon and once we are all settled into our new routine I will post more often again.

My oldest

My oldest son is about to turn 4 years old. I know everyone says how fast it goes with kiddos. How you blink and they are in college. It does go fast but every now and then everything clicks into place for me and I am able to slow the day to day craziness down and savor a moment.

A few nights ago our youngest got up in the middle of the night with what I assume was a nightmare based on his scared cry. I went in and held him as he fell back to sleep. He pulled very close to me since he was scared and I do not know if it was my heart I was feeling in my own chest or if it was his little heart pounding cus he was afraid, either way it was a very tender moment.

It is those moments where all I do and all the I sacrifice as a parent goes by the wayside. The sleepless nights, the cold meals eaten in 5 minutes, the mountains of laundry done, the hundreds of dirty diapers changed. The missed parties and late night fun and the quiet sunday afternoons curled up with a good book. The weight gain and the stretch marks. None of it matters, all that matters is the little angel sleeping in my arms. It brings such a calm peace and I breath the moment in close my eyes and hold it close to my heart. I let time slow down and before I put him back in his bed for the night I said a little prayer. A prayer that I will remember this moment when all the other moments are flying past me in a blur as I try to get us through our crazy busy days and nights.

So tomorrow as we celebrate Ty's 4 big boy years I will be trying to save up many of these special split seconds. There will be a lot of them I am sure.....

More of Ty

The promise of new things to come...

I know I promised pics of my crafting and I have decided to post those things on a new and separate blog. I am working on getting it up and running today and then I will put a link on here for those who would like to keep up with me on that. I also found some additional photos from California that I am loving and want to post here......

California Coast

We had some time to visit the West coast a few weeks ago and I am posting a few pictures from Disneyland. The boys had a blast as always. We got to visit with their great grandparents and their uncle Todd. I am also going to include some silly pictures of Ty playing in the backyard here at our house since it has been too long since I posted pictures. This picture of Ethan just shows what a big boy he is becoming and it is was taken four months ago already. His hair is finally coming in and he is sticking with the blond cutie thing for sure. Ty is loving his awesome preschool and is learning so much. He is happy to count or recite the alphabet or talk about every book they are reading in class. He is a sweet happy boy and we are so proud.

Valentines Day treats...

I spent part of yesterday and today making Valentine's Day cards and gifts. I will post pics but not until after they are received as not to spoil the fun. It is funny the fond memories I have of Valentines day parties at school...making the "mailbox" out of one of my dad's big ol' shoeboxes and then filling them up with cards and candies and paper hearts. Such good times, and now I know Ty is making a box at school and I only hope he enjoys his little party day as much as his silly mommy did. In fact I still love this holiday and I really enjoyed making these cards and things.

Ears

So Ethan's newest and silliest thing is to put stuff in his ears. We think it started while watching the pixar movie Up. The old man, Carl, in the movie has hearing aids and Ethan found some foam from an old pillow and started putting in his ears like Carl. Now he puts anything in his ears from random cotton to blue playdoh. Most of the time I can get it out with my fingers but a couple times it has required careful extraction with tweezers. So today he was eating lunch and once he was done Kent went to get him out of his chair and clean him up. What did Kent find as he wiped his cute little face? That is right....cheese in both ears!

So I am sure most of you have given up on this blog but I promise to be better about posting. I have started some new hobbies that I might also highlight here just to mix it up. Well more like an old hobby and a couple new ones. The boys are doing very well and are keeping us very busy. I can hardly believe how fast they grow and how much more I love them everyday. Ty will be turning 4 and Ethan 2 in just a few months and shortly after that Kent and I will be celebrating our 9th year of marriage. It is crazy how fast it all goes when you are happy!

Last September I ran in my very first half marathon and I finished it! The boys were waiting for me at the finish and it was amazing. I told myself I would not run another one, that I would stick to 10K and under, but now I am considering doing one towards the end of this year. I will let you all know how my training is going.

I thought I might chat about new things or old yummy things I try in the kitchen sometimes as well as the scrapbooking and paper crafts I have started doing.

Feel free to comment on any of it....our crazy life!
